Facility Design
Healthcare designers spend a lot of time designing Swiss watches when we should be designing Swiss Army knives. What I’m getting at is the need to pivot away from designing bespoke solutions, instead running to embrace design solutions that are hyperflexible, that minimize the need to add staff you don’t have and that achieve your unique definitions of success and value. My approach begins by deeply understanding the “why” behind the challenges you are trying to solve with a building solution and putting them in context with who you are and aspire to be as an organization. I then collaborate with my clients and the design team to design innovative solutions that optimize quality, operations, patient and provider experiences, safety, and your long-term organizational sustainability. Never rinse-and-repeat and always focused on doing what’s right.
